flyingchristombasco is correct, he is slapping the open A. If you look at the video he is slapping the A then resting on the D, which would mute the D.

He is in fact hitting the second string from the top, the A. It does look like he's hitting the D, but if you look again, it is clear he is stopping at the D and not actually hitting it. Instead of bouncing off the A string as in normal slap, he is flowing through on the downstroke as if to double thumb when he comes up. By the way Mowac, good job in your covers. And where do you get Mark King basses from? Price?

Besides.....You don't even play bass according to your videos so I highly doubt that gives you any authority to say who's a better bassist. I've only played bass for the last 2 years and I know I've made exceptional progress. If you want to show me something then make a video of YOUR bass playing and then get back to me..good day.

Excuse me professor.....E-A-D-G..look again.....'A' is the second string from the top last time I looked. Yet he is hitting the 'D' or third string from the top and he said he was hitting an open string right? If I didn't know what I was talking about , I wouldn't have made the comment.

If you're going to criticise a video, at least make sure your comment is valid. He IS hitting the A string, not the D string. So really, he's not an idiot- and he's better at the bass than you.

This guy is an idiot.....at 0:35 he said he was using the open 'A' string but if you look closely, he's hitting the open 'D' string. If your going to make an instructional video..at least know the keys of the strings first.
