thanks, matt, that was helpful. i agree "how to slice a page using photoshop" is a better title for this video. from the title, i thought it would help me lay out a page. it was really helpful anyway.

To get rid of the whit space you would, delete the rows of the table that were containing the background gradient. use css to set that same gradient as your body background.. it would look something like this:body{background:url(yourbackground.gif) repeat-x #yourcolor;your color would be the color at the furthest bottom portion of the gradient.
