People who respond "positively" to this song by writing "dis was da shit" just don't get it. You see they are part of the problem. Because of people like them or because of the music that influenced them, there is no room for guys like Gregory Abbott in modern R&B/Pop. Now that side of the industry is dominated by booty-obsessed songs with sampled beats and profanity-laced lyrics.

In 1986, Abbott released his first solo album, Shake You Down. The title track for the album was a success, going platinum and topping the Billboard Hot 100. The album's second single, "I Got The Feelin (It's Over)" which reached #5 on the R&B chart. With the strength of its singles, the album propelled to platinum status and earned Abbot several awards.
