for unimaginative people [most people in heavy industrial times, like this time] this is funny. even today to that same type of person. but today, most people wouldn't find this funny who are imaginative. For example, show this to a 30 years old or a 20 years old person and they wouldn't laugh.

He's playing a "Bacon and Day Silver Bell". It's got a "Spoon" mute which desribes the shape of the lever underneath, worked by the leg. It pushes a damper against the head directly beneathe the bridge
