he's not underrated, he's just not mainstream.if you can't sing along it won't be played on the radio. listen to him with DLR and Whitesnake. Vai is a GREAT musician no doubt.Satch and Vai are awesome guitar instrumentalists just not mainstream

Wow..... There is a reason why Steve Vai is one of the best guitarists to walk this earth.... In my opinion probs one of the best instrumental/virtuosic pieces of music (for guitar!!!!) ever written!!! Truly amazing...

dude don't get me wrong Jimi is fucking brilliant and Little Wing is so complex with it's progression, but I think you are looking at it from an iconic view. Steve Vai(and don't think i'm saying he is a better guitarist) surpasses Jimi's speed, complexity, and dynamic completely. I absolutely love them both but if you set them down together "I think" that Vai could play things that Jimi couldn't. It's two different styles of music so you really can't compare them
